A History of the Church

Transylvania Presbytery of the Synod of Kentucky organized Corbin Presbyterian Church in 1892. Charter members purchased property on Laurel Avenue and constructed a frame building in 1896. This building remains as the oldest church structure in Corbin today.
In 1951, members recognized the need for a new church building, and a Building Fund was created. The property at 601 Master Street was purchased in 1963 and on July 4, 1965, the first service was held in this church. Additional property has been purchased for the purpose of future expansion, and an addition was completed on a portion of that property in 1984.
Members of Corbin Presbyterian have joined together on an exciting journey of faith. Bonded together by our love for the Lord, our church family seeks to serve Christ in worship, study, fellowship and mission.
Serving Christ in worship and study, our church offers Sunday School, Sunday Worship, various special services, a Presbyterian Women's Study Group, and an active music program.
We also serve Christ in fellowship through Dinner for 7/8 and frequent Sunday afternoon fellowship hours.
Serving Christ in mission has always been a priority. Our church operates a feed pantry, furnishing food to around 400 families from a three-county area each month. Our church has been a long-time sponsor of both Boy and Girl Scout Troops in our community and is also affiliated with Corbin's Ministerial Association and Corbin United Effort.
